My current monitor is an Acer Predator 1440P, 27", G-Sync from 2017. I just noticed some weird, small artifacts that looked almost like a bar code but at different heights, not symmetrical. They were at the bottom of the screen on the Windows desktop, but when I opened a web page they weren't there. I went back to the Windows desktop and they were there again.

I restarted the PC and they are gone. Can't pinpoint it being the monitor if it wasn't there on a webpage. Same if it was a GPU issue. Degradation of the picture I use for my desktop doesn't seem likely. Any ideas?

Update: I forgot to mention this. When restarting my PC, the Republic of Gamers logo (static) has a few pieces of the logo at the top of the screen. To clarify, the entire logo is in the middle of the screen like it should be but there are additional fragments of it at the top of the screen. It's been happening for about a week.

MBD: Asus Dark Hero
CPU: Ryzen 5900X
GPU: MSI 3080
SSD: Samsung 980 Pro x 2

How old is the PSU in your build? As for your artifacting, might want to have a video...upload/host on a site like Imgur(or their ilk) and then pass on a link for us to see.

What BIOS version are you on for your motherboard? Are you using any riser cables?

Try and use DDU to remove all GPU drivers(Intel, AMD and Nvidia) in Safe Mode, then manually reinstall with the latest GPU driver sourced from Nvidia's support site, in an elevated command.

Show a photo.
(upload to imgur.com and post link)

Could be corrupted video drivers.
Could be damaged/overheated vram on graphics card (especially if you have done any gpu overclock).

PSU is about 3 years old at most. Updated BIOS during build, haven't had a reason to update it since. No riser cables. I am able to game for long periods without any issues so doubt the PSU is to blame. It is confusing that it only showed on the screen while looking at desktop. I'm starting to think the photo just didn't render completely for some reason. Still not sure about the issue with the ROG screen showing extra logo fragments. If that happens again is it even possible to get a screenshot of the startup screen or do I have to take an actual picture with phone?
