[SOLVED] Weird Audio Feedback Problem

I just got a new set of speakers today and with them I got a 2 female to 1 male aux adapter so I can play both my switch and PC sounds through it without having to swap the aux cable between devices.

PROBLEM:

- While both aux cables are plugged into the speakers (PC and Switch) and the switch is docked, I get loud audio feedback through the speakers.

- I have done some troubleshooting and found that the feedback only occurs while both my PC and Switch are plugged into the monitor (they both go into the same monitor)

- When either end of either the Display Port or HDMI cable is unplugged the feedback goes away

So i'm assuming there is some feedback issue coming out of the PC Display Port, going through the monitor, out the HDMI cable and into the switch, Obviously I need both of these cables plugged in for video display. So what can I do, or try to do to fix this problem.

Solution
The adapter you purchased is wrong for your setup. The purpose of this adapter is to input audio from a single source. It then splits the output to two speaker systems/headphones. From your diagram, you want to switch inputs between two audio sources and output to one speaker system.

One option is to purchase a 3.5 mm stereo audio switch:

The design is straightforward. It allows you to select which input (PC or Switch) to use.

A second option is to purchase a DAC that takes multiple digital inputs (coaxial, optical or USB). The user interface is the same as the audio switch (select which source). However, there is a roadblock. The Switch does not have an optical...

This will make the setup more complicated. However, if you are interested in this option, then I can provide you with more details.

Ah I see now, thank you. I am going to purchase this switcher, will it work for what I need?

Yes, that switch will work with your setup. If you do use this device, set the volume control/knob to max and control the volume with your speaker system.

Thanks! Just thought of this now, but would I be able to use the adapter I already purchased to be able to run the sound out of the switcher into my headset and speakers, so that when I want to use my headset i can mute the speakers and vice versa.

My speakers have an easily accessible on/off button and my headset (Astro A40's) have a volume control wheel on the wire.

I don't see why I couldn't but just making sure so I don't have to make another post later!
