I've had my current system (which I'll post details of below) for about 5 years now, some parts of it (e.g. the mobo and CPU even longer, maybe 8 or more years) and it's been pretty rock-solid, but about 6 months ago I started having problems with it failing to boot, none of which coincided with any system changes (hardware or software).
The first problem was a CPU fan speed error. I kept getting prompted to go into BIOS and check the fan settings, but they looked fine and as soon as I exited BIOS it'd boot and operate just fine.
The next problem I started getting was a RAM error, as indicated by the number of beeps during POST. This was more of a problem because it wouldn't boot at all. I tried re-seating the RAM, removing sticks etc but nothing seemed to work. I was going away for a few days and ran out of time to look at it, but when I got back I found it'd boot, but the time and date settings in Windows were wrong. I checked the CMOS battery voltage and it was low (it was the original battery so I wasn't surprised) so I replaced the battery with a good quality new one.
All was good for a few months, and then about a week ago I started getting the CPU fan error again. Then a few days ago when I booted it, my PC wouldn't even get to POST. It powered on, the case fans and CPU fan all started running, all relevant LEDs on the mobo and case lit up, but there was no power to the monitor, keyboard or mouse and no beeps from the mobo speaker. Purely through trial and error, I found that it'd boot if I removed the CMOS battery from the mobo. Once I reset the time and date it seemed to be fine again for a few days, but yesterday the same thing happened. I removed the CMOS battery again and got it working again, and as of today it's still booting ok.
Does anybody know what's going on? Is it time for a new mobo maybe? Having seen AMDs new CPU line-up I was actually considering this anyway, so it'd be a good excuse XD But then again I'm not going to replace a perfectly good system if I can fix it, so if anyone has any suggestions/advice it'd be appreciated. Ideally I'll fix it and just keep on using it.
My system is as follows (I'll include everything just in case it's relevant):

GPU - ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti
WiFi - ASUS PCE-AC56
PSU - Corsair CX500M
SSD - Samsung 860 Pro (%00 GB) and Samsung 840 Pro (250 GB)
Case - Thermaltake Chaser A31
Optical drive - HP DVD 1260i 24x CD/DVD Dual Layer Rewriter
O/S - Windows 7 Professional 64 bit with all updates
