Hi all,

Today i build a system with a seasonic vertex gx psu which is making some buzzing/stacic noises while the fans are turned off. the same sound is coming from somewhere on my motherboard.

the build is a ryzen 9 7900 with a rtx 4070ti with the 12VHPWR cable.

the sound is almost constant and will stop sometimes for a second and than continue.

Probably "Coil whine" which happens often and in different tones.

Okay, I think it is due to damage wire.

Did you ever resolve this? I just built a new pc with the 1000w vertex gx and have the exact same noise from the psu, I have even had a replacement vertex gx sent and the noise persists - I haven't taking it out of the system yet to see if the motherboard is making the same noise though. Interestingly it looks like we might have the same motherboard?

ROG Strix Gaming B650E-I Gaming wifi
AMD 7 7700x
Asus 4070ti TUF

Edit: I also seem to have narrowed the noise down to the PSU, I ran it in my old pc and the noise persisted. While the old PSU in that build was silent.

I'm debating returning the PSUs and getting a different brand atx 3.0, to see how that goes.

My Seasonic Vertex GX-1000 sounded 100% like yours in the video.

I got very unlucky too, or the Seasonic Vertex GX is really bad? I bought 2 units, because the first one had terrible coil whine/electric noise when in windows or idle or when going from load to idle. The second unit was better, but still had the problems. Under load both Seasonic were fine, no coil whine.

In the end both are too loud for me and I went back to my old beQuiet. Why do we have to deal with this in a premium product? It's not like it is impossible. My current beQuiet makes 0 noises.

You guys got different PSUs now?

I ended up swapping for an Asus rog strix aura 1000w (only thing I could grab in stock), and with fan off it's completely silent, bit of fan noise when it's on but much better than the whine/static sound. So for me the GX-1000 was 100% the cause of the horrible static noise, which is a shame. Went Seasonic because of good brand reputation and little disappointed that 2 units had the same issue.
