Hello all

I have a new pc since a week or 2, the specs are
i5 3570k with arctic cooler pro 7 at stock speed
msi gtx 660 non ti oc edition (factory oc)
8gb kingston ram (might be my problem?)
120gb samsung 840 sdd
1tb western digital blue
asus p8 z77 mobo

i play alot of battlefield bad company 2 and battlefield 3 and sometimes those games, even with high fps just dont feel smooth, bfbc2 even crashes sometimes. I have all drivers up to date, temps are never going above 45 degrees celcius. So i wonder why this is, i play at normal 1080p and dont use AA or something. The ram said it was 1600 speed but in my bios i see that the speed is 1333 by default? So i wonder that might be the issue, if so, how do i set it to 1600? Any help/tips would be appreciated. The games were both on ssd and the wd blue, now both on the ssd with the os but still, choppy gameplay even though i get high fps.

Thanks for the help

Thanks for the reply, im kinda new to all this, but could it be the ram that causes choppy gameplay? If so, how do i set on thet xmp profile?

xmp profile switch is found in the bios for ram that is labeled for XMP. as for game performance, is it only happening in those two games. theres something definately wrong if its wacting bad. but this is just based on your word as i dont know the whole situation myself.

Ok ill try to do that. But its not likely that the ramspeed has something to do with choppy gameplay right?

indeed, so 1333 is probably the same clockspeed as the cpu? I also dont think it could cause bad performance

i play bf3 MP, is the experience the same when you are playing single player? maybe it's your ping? (if on MP)

try to tone down the settings, try to maintain at least 60fps. if it's happening when on MP, maybe it is the ping. if it does not happen on lower settings, maybe its your setup. when you say normal 1080, you mean medium settings?

My ping is always low, even tho i have a slow internet connection. Ingame ping is max 25. I have a gtx 660 and an i5 3570k, i play at all low, not even aa or anything because i dont care about graphics :) I lock my fps at 65 so it gets smoother, otherwise there is too much tearing. If i dont lock fps i get about 120/150 at 1920*1080 resolution. So not my ping/cpu/gpu
