Went on a 4 day vacation (computer was powered down the whole time), came back and my computer went from 30-100c while sitting idle on its first bootup. I use CPUID HWMonitor for temperature monitoring as well as corsair link because I use a h100i cooling system. Here is a SS of the temperatures as of this evening (after I put new Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste on according to their application guidelines for my cpu) CPUID HWMonitor+Corsair Link SS This isn't at the peak of its temperature scale, but as you can see it is 2% load and 70c, it just continues to climb and climb so I got my data and powered it down.
Sadly this has happened before, and the only way I fixed it was by just continuing to reapply thermal paste until I booted up and temperatures were "normal" but still not as low as they should have been. Seems like something else is going on, but unable to figure it out. Typical use for my computer is gaming, movie watching/streaming and that's about it... nothing crazy or over the top.
