This morning I was using my computer just fine. Switching back and forth between XP and Win98 without any graphical anomalies.

However when rebooted to WinXP I notice these thin black lines running vertically & horizontally in different parts of the screen. They'll even move & flicker when the mouse pointer goes through them or clicks a button in that area. It seems totally random. It first popped up on the bootup "Welcome" screen and continued all the way to the desktop & never went away.

I rebooted and the same thing happened. I didn't switch to Win98 though to check if it's all of a sudden happening there too since I was already late for work, but I was wondering if anyone ran across this problem before.

I have an old Nokia monitor that was rated #1 all over the place back when it was new. Honestly it has not given me a single peep of a glitch in all these years. No wires or anything was pulled or jarred. Nothing out of the ordinary occurred at all.

I did switch from a GeForce 2 GTS to a Radeon 9500 Pro, but that was almost a month ago and I haven't changed the drivers since I installed it (I updated to latest drivers right away), and not a peep over the month.

Well that's about it. Hopefully someone has run across this weird problem and has some ideas before I go home today for more in depth troubleshooting.

Thanks in advance.

Well, just to update anyone interested....

When I got home I turned on my PC to find the problem largely gone. The only black lines that remained were on some icons on my toolbar & in the Start menu only.

I then rebooted to Win98 and no problem, went back to WinXP and no more problems.

I hope this wasn't a precursor to a really bad future problem with something.
