Weird Download Speeds

So i just finished building my computer and i have installed all of my drivers and everything so i decided to start downloading my games. On my first 3 games i was getting great speeds at about 5.5 MB/s. When i got to my fourth game my speeds plummeted to 2.3 MB/s. Then when i started opening my browser to type this this thread, they went back up to 5.2 MB/s. After a couple minutes of my browser being open. i now hovers around 3-3.5 MB/s. What is happening and how can i improve my download speeds?

If you are using wifi it might just be a bad signal. Try moving the router to you or getting a better one if possible.

Downloading from where?
Downloading how? WiFi, wired?

Speed is also going to be affected by the bandwidth available at the other end, too. Everything goes at the speed of the slowest link in the chain.
