Weird Drive Icons

When I plugged my external HDD, it showed 'Scan and Fix Errors'. I went ahead but a minute into it, the whole thing got interrupted. I removed the device and plugged it back in but then, all my disk drives showed weird icons instead of the normal ones. Inside one of the drives, all the music files showed the same weird icons instead of the thumbnails.
Why is this happening and what can I do to fix it?

Hi there lone_gunner,

Could you access the files? Are they corrupted? If you can access the drive as well as the files, I would advise you to back them up as soon as possible. After that, you need to test the drive with a testing tool. If the drive is in good health, I guess you can just reformat the drive(after you have already backed up the data). 'Scan and Fix Errors' error could appear as a result of unplugging the drive without safely ejecting it.

There is nothing wrong with any of the drives. I can access everything properly but the only problem is with all the icons. They are all this one particular thing. Like a Windows 97 file explorer icon.
I think my iconcache is corrupt or something. I found the file in C:/ and I deleted it. Will it solve the problem or is it just temporary?
