Weird frame drop problem, please help ASAP

Hi,

I just bought a new laptop, and have it connected to a monitor with an HDMI cable. Whenever I use exclusively the monitor, its super laggy, but when I choose to duplicate the image on both the monitor and the laptop screen, it works just fine. The integrated graphics card runs the laptop display, but the dedicated one runs the monitor display, and I cant seem to be able to change that. Thank you very much in advance

You might have to disable/enable the NVidia Optimus option in BIOS.

That doesnt seem to do anything, what I think is happening is that im bottlenecking my GPU, but I dont know how to change that, my power settings are already in high performance

The higher the resolution, the more the GPU has to work for each frame. You sure you're not running 4k on that external monitor or something? In other words, do you have the same resolution set for all displays?
