Weird Graphics Card Situation

On January 12th 2018, I built my first PC, but I didn't put in the graphics card because I couldn't afford it yet. I was able to play my games on low settings at around 40 fps / more or less /

Sunday June 8th 2018, I installed an EVGA 1050 ti to my computer and installed all the correct drivers and STILL come to find out my fps barely rose above 40.

I play games like Fortnite and CSGO.

Please help,all help appreciated. 5 days left before I cant return it.

After getting GTX 1050 ti - did you leave your monitor connected to motherboard?
You have to connect it to graphics card.
