[SOLVED] Weird Grinding Noise On Startup

I booted up my pc today and it made a weird grinding noise while booting up. It wasnt horribly loud but definitely noticeable, what might be the cause of this? The noise lasted about 5-10 seconds and everything was fine afterwards. This is the second time it happened, and it only happened when i was booting my pc, not while gaming or surfing the web.

Made my build about 3 months ago and kept my pc off the ground, so dust being a problem is pretty unlikely.

What might be the problem with the hard drive? How can i fix it, if possible.

Also make sure it's not the PSU fan. Not much you can do but run software to check the health of the drive.

Does your PC have an optical drive? The optical drives read/write head moves which causes a slight grind noise when the device is powered up.

No, it does not.

It's most likely the HDD , download and run the HDD diagnostic in SeaTools. That will give you a heath result.

I ran a S.M.A.R.T test on my hdd and seatools said i passed it. I'll run some more tests and let you know if anything fails.

It's probably fine , my 2 - 1tb Barracudas make some noise on boot too. I've had them for several years.

Okay, my pc boots up perfectly normal regardless if the grinding noise happens, im just not sure if its my psu or hdd. Im pretty sure the noise was coming from the right side of my pc so i thought the problem was my hdd.

Probably the HDD , just run the diagnostics once in awhile. If it starts to test as failing , backup and replace.
