I have 4 external hard drive:
  • WD Passport 2TB
  • Hitachi Touro 2TB
  • Enclosure + HGST 500GB
  • Enclosure + WD Blue 1TB (1)
All of them have same sound after eject. Sound like "Click" > "Ngiunggg" (spindown sound) > DONE.

But my new WD Blue 1TB (2) have different sound like "Click" > "Ngiunggg" (spindown sound) > "Cessssttt" > DONE

What is this "Cessstt" sound? Is it normal? There's no bad sector and health still 100%, tough.

Well HDD have mechanical parts, a real plate, an actuator and a head. It's normal
Yes, I know about that. but that additional "Cessst" sound make me scared. Maybe I'm too paranoid about this. Glad if its normal, thanks
HDDs with different platter counts would make different sounds.
What is platter counts? And same type and same brand (WD Blue 1TB 2,5") can have different platter counts?

It means how many spinning disks the HDD actually has, depending on the capacity and technology used, the number of platters may differ.

For example, if a regular 2TB HDD has 4 platters, then each platter holds 500GB of data (appr.) but a 2TB HDD with newer technology may only have 2 platters (1TB per platter, very high density).
