few days ago i tried to play a game called fractured space, first time i tried it kept on muting itself and making weird hissing noise from my pc, never found out where it came from though, after that i cleaned my pc, making sure it's not clogged or anything and the next morning it's fine, i played the game for about an hour more-less, then the sound mute came, i ignored it at first but soon the hissing noise from the pc is back, now i'm getting a bit worried, i can also hear a few electrical-like noise, the next thing i know is it started to smell weird, i pulled the pc out from the bottom of the table and the smell started to go away, but since i don't really want to risk it i stopped playing that game and everything went normal again
now there is 2 suspects i have in my pc
it is either the gpu (r7 260x, oc-ed to 1.22ghz core and 1.6ghz memory)
or the psu ("450W" psu, seems like SAMA is the OEM of the unit, that psu came with the case)
the pc is about 2.5 years old if i'm not mistaken

can anyone help me with identifying the culprit here or is it just fine and i'm being too paranoid ?
it might be a coil whine, but coil whine that causes weird smell and audio mute just doesn't seem right to me

It is likely a combination of several components malfunctioning. However, this can be caused by the power supply if the output voltage is not stable. If that game is making your PC work harder than other games, then it'll be drawing more amperage from your power supply, which may cause voltage instabilities if it's a lower quality unit (like the ones bundled with cases usually are).

I would suspect the power supply. Also, the Rx 2xx series does produce some coil whine, but it's not usually noticeable if it's in a closed case. But the smell makes me wonder if the power supply is putting out too much voltage.

Try replacing the power supply with one of these here...

I personally recommend the Corsair model.

maybe... yea its more to an electrical short or something sound that goes like ticking sound, but in the same time makes weird smell

Replace the gpu, open up the computer case when its running, you can do it outside if you dont want to expose yourself to electricity inside your house inside a tiny space, and keep it running for a bit, and when you hear the noise or smell the smell, then look closely (not too closely) inside your computer and see if you can identify where the sound and smell is coming from.
