Weird Internet Speeds

Hey, I recently got this new Internet connected and I was testing the speeds, now I'm not a big Internet expert but I need someone to help me out.

In the living room, where the Internet router is connected, I connected the Ethernet cable to my pc and got the following speeds:
20 ping
75mbps Download
20mbps Upload

I have a NETGEAR range extender as the internet does not reach my room so well-
https://www.amazon.co.uk/NETGEAR-Extender-External-Antennas-EX2700-100UKS/dp/B00NIUHAG6

I connect an Ethernet cable from the range extender to my pc in my bedroom and get almost the exact same speeds, but when I connect through WiFi I get the following:
20 ping
35mbps download
20mbps upload

Since everything else is the same, I don't understand why the download is half what I actually have?

If anyone could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.

Have a nice day
Edwin

In some ways it is surprising you get 75m on a wireless unit like that, the 300 is a fake marketing number that can never be obtained in real life.

When you run wireless to the extender you now have 2 wireless signals competing and overlapping. In the very best case you will lose half your speed since all the data has to be received and then retransmitted. In many cases it is much more because you now have 2 radio signal that can get interference both from inside and outside you house.
