Weird issue with cable or notebook

Hello, this is the first time that I didn't find a solution to my problem in this forum, so I had to start a new thread. I hope someone can help me.

I'm having a weird issue with my HP DV6 6190us.
It doesn't connect to my home's network through some cords, while others laptops do.
1) Using a cord with about 1.5 meters my HP connects easily to the network.
2) Using a cord with about 18 meters, it can't connect to the network. The LEDs don't even start blinking. If I try to run diagnosis, it says that the cable isn't plugged.

I have tested this longer cable with another laptop, a SONY VAIO, and it works flawlessly, and achieves the maximum speed of the network.

Does anyone know the solution?

A detail, the shorter cord follows the pattern 658B and the longer one is 658A. Could this be the cause of the problem?

thats just really weird. try installing this: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55105.exe it's the lan driver for your laptop.

maybe the 18 meter cord is damaged?

are the cables running at 1gbit?

make sure you're turning off wifi on hp when you use ethernet.

i didn't type anything about hp so maybe it's a common problem with hp laptops.
