Weird keyboard action on left arrow press

Hello i have a HP Pavilion dv6-6107sa and recently it has started to put a - when i press the left arrow key any advice in stopping this happening would be great thanks.
Extra things that might be worth noting it only adds the - when on the first press of the left arrow and my delete key is also deleting the first letter of a sentence rather then the letter to the right.
No idea what happened but it has stopped doing it now for no apparent reason. Thanks for the helpful ideas anyway

Access Keyboard properties and see if the key has been changed - perhaps "restore defaults" may help. Cheers

I can't seem to find an option to see if the keys have been changed or a restore defaults option in the keyboard properties

Go to Control Panel
Look for Clock Language Region
Access keyboard settings
Is the keyboard setting the one for your locale?
If not change it and hopefully that will resolve the problem.
If Locale is OK, try swapping to another one, and then swap back again to see if the issue is resolved.

If that doesn't work I suppose you could uninstall then reinstall the driver.

It is the inbuilt keyboard and I don't have a usb one to test
