Hi, this looks like a volume display. Try changing different volumes up and down in Volume Mixer and see if the lines change along with the volume. If it does, then it's likely an audio driver option, look for settings in the Control Panel to see if you find a way to disable the on screen display for the volume.
A full screen shot might help. Is it just a grey box with the lines on it? Or is your whole background grey, and the lines just show up. Where are lines located on your screen? Top/right corner?
If the volume thing doesn't work out, try a [
Clean Boot] to see if the lines still appear. You need to be careful to not disable Microsoft services so read the instructions first (in the link). If you don't see the lines while in Clean Boot, then it's one the programs that you disabled for the clean boot that is causing the lines. The next step would be to re-enable each program/service a few a time until you discover which one is causing the problem.
If you do see the problem while still in Clean Boot, then re-enable all of the programs/services again and boot back into normal mode. The problem is likely hardware or a driver. Next step would be to try to see if it shows up in [
Safe Boot].
