Ok guys Ive been pulling my hair out on this one.

CPU - i3 5th gen
OS - Win 7 x64

Right I have 2 different matched pairs of ram. Ignore 1 set for the purpose of this as the problems occur with both.
Using the 2x 4GB sticks.

In Dual channel mode the bios sees all 8GB
CPUz sees all 8GB and states dual channel mode
Win reports 4GB installed and 3.18 usable.

In single channel mode bios sees all 8GB
CPUz says 8GB in single mode.
Win reports 8GB and 3.18 usable

All sticks work ok in any slot.
Ive reseated the CPU. (cant see any problems with the pins)
Ive done the msconfig thing.
Ive played with every bios setting related (FOXCONN Q57m on the latest BIOS i can find anywhere)
Ive boosted the voltage 50mv

nothing has any affect.

Anyone got any ideas?

Currently I have all 4 (2x 4gb and 2x 2GB) sticks installed in dual channel mode.

Bios sees 12GB
CPUz sees 12GB in dual channel mode
Win sees 6GB with 3.18 usable. (win always sees half the ram when using dual channel mode but the 3.18 usable always stays the same no matter what)

resourse monitor shows
1879MB available
1292MB cached
3255MB total
6144MB installed

yeah i did the msconfig thing

Hardware reserved is 2889MB

In all honesty i just want it to use the ram installed rather than its page file. I dont really care about dual channel mode.
If I re configure into single channel then over 5GB is harware reserved. (2x 4GB sticks)

I cannot get it to run in single channel with all 4 slots filled as they are all good and matching and it auto falls into DUAL channel.
the bios on this MB is very limited with its options.

Im almost certain its cpu socket but it looks 100% perfect. CPU maybe faulty i guess. Its been in this machine since new and has never missed a beat but the problems only showed up since i tried to increase its ram to give it some new life for a while.

OK 8GB in single channel reports.....

4397MB H/W reserved
1848MB available
1112MB cached
3255MB total
8192MB installed

basically in single channel mode Windows will recognise it is there but it still will not use it!

apologies that should read
i3 - 550 cpu (was tired n frustrated when typing that out - lol)

the ram is from the same batch and are only 1 number apart.
even with just 1x 4GB stick installed it says 3.18GB available

think im gonna have to bite the bullet and do a clean install of windows and at least rule that out :(

Yeah I know it is.
I decided its either the CPU or the mobo.

If you read the thread you will see Ive already tried 2 different 64bit OSs and removed CPU and checked all pins. I can see all pads on the cpu have had pin contact ok.
BIOS is the latest
Both the BIOS and CPUz see all the ram fine.
~BUT win7 64bit and WIN10 64bit will only use 3.18GB of it
