So, I installed an AMD FX-8350 in my MSI 970A-G46 a month or 2 ago and have been having no issues, but my RAM is only dual channel. I am using slots 3 and 4 because when i was using 2 and 4, only 4GB were detected. But I am not completely sure if dual channel is running right now. Speccy and CPUZ say it is single channel, but I am confused. I have a dual channel kit, but I am not sure if I am utilizing dual channel. I'm kind of freaking out because before I'm pretty sure I had dual channel (I was using slots 1 and 3). However, the speeds are normal and it detects all 8GB so I thought, "That's fine." Is it fine? Should I experiment with slots 2 and 4? Thanks for any input.

EDIT: also wanna add in the fact I have a hyper 212 EVO that may or may not be blocking ram slots.

Solution
Sure it will, the fan on the EVO pops off - it's clipped to the fins, insert the DRAM and then clip the fan back on just above the top of the DRAM - almost touching, I have EVOS in both my SB and my IB and am running both fully populated , Ripjaws X in the SB and Tridents in the IB

With my Hyper 212 EVO though, I don't think that the RAM will fit in slots 1 and 3.

okay, I will try that now.

It went great! I am now dual channel. I actually rebuilt my system a few weeks ago into a new case, and didn't actually know I was running single channel, and didn't change it. But now, it's all goin great. I know you multiply the DRAM speeds in CPUZ by 2 so my RAM speeds are up to snuff as well. Thanks for all your help! I'm really stressed out cause finals is next week, so I have one less thing to worry about.
