I have a netbook that is connected with a PC over ethernet. I run a virtual machine on the pc using vmware and I need to access the virtual machine from the netbook. My virtual machine can only see the pc and the pc can only see the netbook but the vm cant see the netbook. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

To make things more specific I'm trying to use remote desktop with the netbook as a client and the virtual machine in the pc as a host.

Solution
Most VMs default to a shared private network with their host PC, and/or sharing the host PC's network via NAT. The NAT allows the VM to access the network, but the network can't access the VM.

To see other (physical) computers on the network, you need to switch the VM's network type to bridged. That way the VM shows up as if it were a separate physical computer on you network.

I Fixed it 1 minute before you answered haha. I had already tried a bridged connection and it didn't work which confused me a lot and made me question my networking knowledge. Then i tried NAT and forwarded the ip but still didn't work. Then I checked the bridge network settings and it turned out it was bridging with the wrong network. All this because i assumed it would automatically bridge with the local area connection when it actually picked the wireless connection ( which now makes sense since that was the network that had access to the internet and vmware wanted to give internet access to the vm. )

Anyway thanks for the help, let this thread be a reminder to check where you bridge to.
