Weird Ping Issue on multiple wifi cards.

Hi,
As of 4 days ago i have been having issues with fluctuating ping in any game I play.
Originally I had installed a wireless card from a previous pe-built Acer machine and moved it to my new PC. The wireless card (although literally using a candle stick as a WiFI antenna) had served me for almost a year.
Four days ago I encountered this issue with ping and so I automatically assumed that the issue was a result of my makeshift and terrible Wifi card solution. I brought a new one (TP-LINK Archer T6E AC1300). To my disappointment I was encountering the exact same issue of my ping fluctuating from a playable 60ms to 130-180ms. I tested it a closer range to the router and I still had the same issue. I did make sure it was not an issue with the ISP by using Ethernet and on that I had no problems.
I think it may be an issue with my router (ASUS DSL-AC68U) but I really am stumped if it isn't.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

If it all worked, makeshift or not, then the original wifi adapter card was most likely configured correctly.

If you configured the new TP-Link Archer in the same manner for your wireless network then the issue may indeed be with the router.

Have you checked all incoming wires and plugs? Make sure all are tight and securely in place. No damage, corrosion, rodent chews, etc..

Could be a DSL splitter problem also.

You might check the router's logs (if any and if enabled) for errors.

The next option would be to do factory reset and reconfigure the router for your network.

Could be in need of a firmware update as well. See if one is available.
