Hello,

I am having this weird problem which i want to belive its because of my monitor and not because of any other component from my pc. I have AOC g2460fq 144hz 1080p monitor and the problem is that 100 fps feels like 30. It happens in every game, also some videos are not smooth. If i choose 120hz resolution and i get 120fps everything is butter smooth, but when fps goes to 100-110 then it feels like 30 fps. Also i tried 100hz resolution with 100fps and still feels like 30 fps. I did tried 144hz with vsync off and caped fps to 100 and still feels like 30. The only situations when everything is butter smooth is when i have either 60 either 120 either 144 fps, whats between these values feels choppy like i am getting 30 fps. Usage and temperatures are fine. I did notice that when resolution is set to 100hz even the cursor movement on desktop feels a bit choppy(it's very minor).

Rig is
I7 8700
Gtx 1080
16gb ram 3000mhz

It happens on both os windows 10 and windows 8.1. I tried DVI and DP cables and its the same with both.

Could the monitor be broken and cant handle 100hz well? Could skip frames at 100hz and at 60,120,144hz not skp them ?

Sad to say that a Reddit post was actually made concerning this monitor and they all said the same thing. You might just return and get something better. https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/3qr7p7/aoc_g2460fq_144hz_not_really_144hz/

If you need suggestions on 144hz in the 24-32'' range let me know.

Thank you for the answer. As i see all the people on reddit complains that they can not see the difference between 60hz and 120/144hz on this monitor. In my case this is not the problem because 120/144hz seems very smooth(this is my first monitor above 60hz so i can not compare the perception of 120/144hz). My problem is when PC can't maintain 120/144 fps and drops below to like 100-110, and here the choppy movement occurs. I am very affraid that there might be a problem with the GPU, but it's paradoxal because the GPU performs very well at 120/144fps. Can the GPU have issues with 100fps range ?

PS: How can i test it for frame skipping ? I have access to a Nikon D3100 but i dont know how to set it to film that UFO test.
