Hi, yesterday I upgraded my RTX 3070 Ti to an RX 6950 XT. However, I have a problem with some games.

The computer resets when changing the resolution in the game (Hogwarts Legacy). Today I downloaded the game MotoGP 2023, and when the game loaded, the computer also reset.

Also, Red Dead Redemption 2 works fine, Heaven Benchmark works fine. The computer doesn't reset.

I have a Seasonic Focus Plus 650W that can output 648W on the 12V line. In RDR 2, the maximum peak power consumption of the card is 310W. My i5-11400F takes about 50-70W max, so the total power consumption of the computer is about 450W estimated with peripherals...

Anyone got any ideas what it could be about? I even reinstalled windows today... I thought maybe the RAM was causing it because I had XMP enabled, but even on factory settings the computer resets

My spec:

i5-11400F
Kingston Fury Beast 2x 16GB
XFX Radeon RX 6950 XT Merc319
Gigabyte B560 Aorus PRO AX
Samsung 980 PRO 1TB
Seasonic Focus Plus 650W Gold

And 3440x1400 165 Hz monitor.

Forgive that I haven't looked specifically at the design and requirements of the PSU and graphics card....

For PCI power do you have two cables connected both to the PSU and graphics card, or one cable with two connectors?

I would also verify wattage off the wall, if possible. AMD is recommending 850W for this card.

I have one cable with two connectors (2x 8 pin) connected to the card.. But just a moment ago I changed the desktop resolution to 2560x1080, and in MotoGP 23 I also changed to this resolution, and when it reset my computer, now it doesn't reset at this resolution 2560x1080... lol

Yesterday I had an old monitor that has a resolution of 2560x1080, but in Hogwarts Legacy my computer also reset when I changed the resolution. I don't get it

Edit: I fixed it. Thanks @punkncat for giving me an idea. I thought that there is too much overload on one cable, I connected two cables and everything works without a problem. The OPP in the PSU works

In the case that you have a desktop resolution which is 'native', any changes in the game are basically like a scale rather than actually being that resolution. When you use a default monitor resolution, or even set the resolution and framerate via the advanced options it will be (for instance) 1080 on the desktop AND in the game without scaling, if you understand what I mean.

As to the cabling, I am glad that helped you out. It is best practice with these newer graphics cards to have the supply be as robust as possible. I would still consider having an eye open for a deal on something with or closer to the recommended wattage.
