Weird problem with x99 deluxe ii

I just bought a new x99 deluxe 2 with a gtx 1080. The problem is with the startup. The screen does not show always. I need to do a cmos reset to make the screen show up. Otherwise, the monitor is not receiving any input. Any idea why this might happen?

Have you tried updating the BIOS, if newer version available?
