I am posting this is the components thread because i'm not real sure what component is causing the sounds.

When my cpu is loaded, or even when i type i hear a slight screeching high pitch beep type sound that seems to be centered around my processor.

i got this computer about 3 weeks ago and it's a gaming computer and it runs all my games at max settings just fine, it will play battlefield 3 and 4, War thunder at movie settings.

the specs are as follows.

OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit(fully updated)
ASrock 770iCafe motherboard(Bios is version 1.90, updated to support AM3+ CPU's)
AMD Athlon II X3 450 3.2Ghz(full three core, no 4th core)
16GB's DDR3 G Skill RipJaw series ram
AMD Radeon HD 7950 3.1Gb GDDR5
232GB Western Digital Caviar Blue.
1000w Antec power supply.

I'm not new to computers i do know a fair bit about them but i'm kinda stumped on the noises,
it's not any of my fans all wires are secured.

I have the same problem, well idk if it's the same whine but when i get to a cut scene a loud whine comes from the CPU, i think it's the heatsink but i'm not sure if it is since that would be a weird whine for a heatsink.

Well it's not the PSU, the sound is coming from the cpu area, so if my voltage regulator module is giving off sounds is this normal?

Or is this a sign my motherboard is going to die?

Have you seen your CPU charts when it makes a whining noise? Like i play Starcraft 2 and during a cut scene my CPU starts whining and i look at my meter from the free wigit you get and it's putting out a lot of energy. I figured out mine it was my CPU but its 2 1/2 years old so it's probably going out soon or either just old

The older versions of the AM3+ platform boards did not handle their power well at all. What I am guessing is that your CPU is pushing really hard to render your game and it is causing a lot of stress on the board. A broad general suggestion is to save up some money and move over to an intel platform.
