hello i have an fx 8350 with stock fan and been trying to overclock(wthout increasing voltage) for a while but i get really high temps, 65+ ºC in just seconds with Prime95. i tried to reduce the voltage by 0.08v and i was still getting really high temps on prime95 and CPU-Z stress test.

i was thinking about buying a better cooler but i just noticed that on idle i am getting around 18 ºC which i think is pretty low, is it possible that msi afterburner isn't reading the temp properly?
i tried HWMonitor but sometimes it gets stuck and doesn't update the temps

temperature while gaming is fine even in cpu intensive games and low resolution

i also noticed those weird spikes where the cpu temp increases like 5 and then comes down instantly

EDIT: Msi Afterburner and HWMonitor report same high temps
i already changed thermal paste

Well, AMD does have a history of having hard to read temps. My advice is to try a different program like HWMonitor or AMD's overclocking utility (whatever it is called right now).

It could also be that the temp sensor on your specific motherboard is failing, which happens sometimes.

my cpu is idling at around 12 ºC now, i have a vcore offset of -.08 and all fans are running at full speed(2 on the side, 1 on the back, 1 on the front and the cpu fan) but when i stress test it reaches 65 ºC after 2 or 3 minutes, with a voltage this low shouldn't i get better temps?
i just changed the thermal paste and update the bios but nothing seems to work, amd overdrive, msi afterburner and hwMonitor show the same temp, also when i touch the vrm it is quite hot

i think i just found the solution! i set the "cpu LLC" and "cpu/nb LLC" both to HIGH and now my cpu temp is stable at 55ºC while stressing with prime95

[strike]i ll try setting it as high as possible and see if it reduces the temperatures even further[/strike]
