weird ticking sound from pc

hi.the last days my pc is doing a very weird ticking sound.it goes on and off so i could not check by openinig the case because it doesn not last long.the weird thing is that one time the sound continued after i closed the pc and it only stopped when i unplugged it.i'm thinking maevy it is the psu,xfx 550 core edition,but its new,i have it almost a month.any ideas??i know it is not the fans or the hard drive because that sound does not match the one that they make

One way to troubleshoot this problem is to disconnect everything that is not essential to the pc. If it continues like this, replace components every so often until it stops. If not, start adding everything back, until you find the source of the problem.

i have the minimum on my pc so if i remove something it wont work.any other ideas?

Usually ticking is the sound of a fan going out either on your cooler or in your power supply, But it can also be an indication that your hard drive is about to fail.When was the last time you air cleaned out the power supply?I would take some air and blow out everywhere on the power supply and cooler.Worst comes to worst its your hard drive and you need to replace it,Than you have some canned air left over for when you need it.

a few minutes ago it started again so i opened the case and tried to determnine from where it is coming.i narrowed it down to the motherboard,the cpu cooler,or the power supply.As i wrote above i have the psu only for one month so i have not cleaned it yet.but the fact that i had to unplugge the computer in order for the sound to stop, doesnt it mean that the psu is the problem?

Are you using a stock cooler or after market?Also do you have a video card?Is the clicking in a pattern like click..click..click..click or random clicks like click..click.......click.click....click.

The ticking sound may also be caused by the hard drive.

stock cooler.the card is also new,i bought it the same time with the psu.it's the asus nvidia gtx 650 ti.about the clicking,it has a certain pattern,also it goes on for like ten seconds,it stops for like a minute and it starts again.finally the ticking starts after many hours.at this point my pc is open for like 6 hours.nothing hardcore,only internet,movies etc
