Well done to Everton for 4th place, you more than deserved it for the way
you outperformed all but 3 other teams in the premier league this year.

I agree, well done the Toffees, and may you enjoy success in the Champions
League as well 🙂

They have to pass the preliminary round first 🙂

They could face teams like rangers, celtic, rosenborg, schalke 04,
werder bremen etc.

Well done to them, but they haven't really performed that well have they?

If Liverpool manage to win the champions league (I pray to god, in who I
don't even believe, they don't), who do you think would be the most fair to
enter next year? Liverpool or Everton?

Everton, without a shadow of a doubt, they have been more consistent over
the course of the season. Fair dues to Liverpool for reaching the final,
but they rode their luck and it's nowhere near the same amount of games.
I'll be cheering the hubcap pinchers on though ;-) as I would any British
team in the final.

The Premier League have to nominate Everton, as otherwise they'd be
going against their own principles as a league competition. But I
think it's ridiculous that UEFA don't have an automatic place for the
holders.

Would you let them enter the champions league at the cost of Liverpool if
Liverpool wins the champions league?

They won't be doing so at the cost of Liverpool. They'll be entering
as having qualified in their own right. It's their place, they earned
it, and it isn't taking anyone else's place away.

If Liverpool were given the fourth place instead of Everton, that
would be at the cost of Everton. But I don't think that should happen,
and I think it's disgraceful that it should even come to this
discussion - the idea that cup winners don't have automatic entry into
the next season's competition goes against all the history of
football. Whoever came up with this in UEFA should be shot.

As happy as i was with our victory (as an arsenal supporter) i really felt
let down by liverpool. You would think that KNOWING the only way they'll get
into the CL next season was through 4th place that they'd have played
better, and with more attacking flow.

Instead their only goal came from one of the biggest dives id ever seen
(well done alonso) and really they didn't threaten in the way i expected.

well I think, CWC should have been merged with ChL, not with UEFA cup, so
that you get more champions(if league points allow more than 2 teams to
enter for a country) in that 'Champions' League, winners of 'FA cups' only,
not runners, if winner had already won a quota by position in league.
also previous UEFA cup holder and ChLeague holder should get a ticket for
next season groups stage in ChL

in any case you can be sure that Liverpudlian fans have a chance to see
their team again in next season ChL final 🙂

What is wrong with a well-organised team being near the top?
For me, Moyes and Allardyce are head and shoulders above the rest for
Manager of the year.

I have to agree with you Marc, but I'm afraid Mourinho's going to get it.
But Big Sam and David have both done brilliantly with limited resources.

You might "agree"
but Everton in 4th are 30 POINTS behind the top team, that's why we aint
rating them.

They are actually closer in points to the relegation places then they are
winning the league, that's what is wrong with it. Bolton have 55 points
Everton 61.

so sure nothings exactly WRONG with it, but 4th place was 13 points behind
3rd. which seems a really large margin between 2 teams

It's not just UEFA though, as FIFA have done it too by making Brazil qualify
for the World Cup.

Now you're just nit-picking.

Just about, they were playing rubbish at the start of qualifying.

Only the champion should be allowed direct qualification, and 2-4 should
qualify. If Liverpool win the CL, then UEFA should give them a place.
The champion should always be in the CL. This is the "rule" in other
sports as well (at least outside the usa the olympic champions are
automatically qualified). Doesn`t matter if I love liverpool or not, if
they`re not good enough, they`re not in the CL. AND, them being
champions shouldn`t put Everton outside. They fought for this and nobody
should take that away from them.

Or even no resources in the case of Sam.
