WEP Vs WPA

I understand that WPA provides much better security that
WEP, but is the performance hit any less? I haven't tried
WPA yet, but enabling 64bit WEP over the wireless connection
made it almost unusable.

Encryption affects speed slightly... but your connection shouldn't ground
to a halt. Maybe your APs are just out of range? If that is the case, you
may need to add additional APs or upgrade the antennas on the APs.
