We're these specs the right decision?

So I have a gaming computer which is:
8 gig ram DDR3
Gtx 750 1gb
Amd apu a6 6400k
(Should be enough details)

I decided to get upgrades. I was going to buy a new graphics card. But then I realized that my CPU was shit so I was looking for a good one. I had an amd Mobo so I research the best one which was the fx 8350. Then I noticed that the intel processors were a lot stronger than the amd cpu's. So I got an intel mobo and a intel CPU. I then realized that the motherboard I got only supported DDR4 ram. I had DDR3 ram in my pc. So I had to order DDR4 ram.

A two part upgrade basically turned into a new build because the only thing I will move to my new pc is the harddrive and my external harddrive.

Now I am wondering if me buying these specs were the right decision for a 400-600 budget.

New specs:
* 8 gig ram fury hyper x DDR4 ram
* Intel i5 6500
* MSI gaming intel skylake b150 DDR4 lga 1151 MOBO
* EVGA gtx 1050 ti 4gb SC GDDR5

( I also got thermal paste, sata cables with the new 1tb harddrive I bought, and a anti static shock band for when I build my pc.)

Do you think I made the right decisions? (I was on a 400-600 build)

Okay, that made me feel better. Thank you. And yes I have a old dell pc in my garage. I am going to put my old specs into that for a HTPC.
