so, i've read heaps of help pages and none have worked so far, my Western Digital 3TBHD isn't being opened by my computer, it appears in disc manager and i can safely remove it and i only got it a month ago, ive moved about 300 gigs or less on to it, ive tried to change the disc letter but administrative tools said it wasn't available or ready, i ran WD Lifeguard Diagnostics and it stopped scanning after a second and said too many bad sectors, what the hell? i only had it a month, how do i fix this?

Hello, immaturity!

I'm very sorry to hear about your external WD drive. What is the model of the drive and can you tell me what's the status in Disk Management? Unfortunately, I think you might be dealing with a faulty hard drive. 🙁
If even the diagnostics utility can't fully test it, I don't think there's much more that you can do by yourself.
It's still under warranty so I'd strongly recommend you to get in touch with our tech support and let them know about the issue.
You should be able to RMA the HDD and get a replacement.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted!

thanks for your help SuperSoph, i can't find the model number and the computer just says device not ready when i try to change settings. about returning it, does it need the packaging with it still? cause we threw it out about a week after no issue use

Well, it is not necessary to have the original package, you just need to get in touch with the tech support for your RMA request. I'm sure they will be very helpful and give the information you need to prepare your product for replacement.
Here's a link with the packaging and shipping instructions for returning your in-warranty drive:

Good luck! :)

hey i realised my hard drive's disc is spinning and making alike a vmmph sound, i hit it softly and it showed up on the computer for like a second then went away when the disc started working, then it went back to that

Sorry, immaturity! 🙁
I'd rather not do that, the sound means the damage is physical and you've probably done more harm than good by hitting it, even if it's softly. Did you send your RMA request to our tech support yet?
Unfortunately, you cannot fix this yourself. Physical repair of an HDD can only be performed by a professional with the technical knowledge needed and a special dust-free lab room where they take the hard drive apart.
