I am having a huge issue, i have already established that my WD Passport Ultra is defective but i was instructed to backup all my data before sending in for a replacement.

My issue is, i have almost 31GBs of data stored on the drive, but upon connecting the drive to my computer, the only folder to appear is "DamagedFiles". I checked the storage properties of the drive and it states that in fact ~31GBs are used of the total 1TB.

The drive only connects to a Mac

Is there a way for me to recover the data?

Hi there Abielg98,

That is really unpleasant. :(

If the data stored on the drive is really important, your safest bet would be to contact a data recovery company. You can check WD's Data Recovery Partners out: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=Oi7gNK

Apart from that, you can just run some data recovery tools on it and hope that one of those would recover the data. There are some threads on that in the community. I can't really recommend you a specific one.

Let me know in case you have some more questions,
