These are not fast or efficient....3 platters in a notebook drive will run HOT. I will be much more excited for a dual 500GB platter 1TB drive. I got 2 WD3200BEKT drives now and they are single platter and still get VERY warm.

I'm fine having a 320 gig hdd in my laptop. Having 1 TB is an overkill for a laptop.

I would not trust something so small with that much data being moved around day to day. Been there, done that so to speak. Now for SFF HTPC or consoles I'd totally buy this.

I'm excited. At least it's POSSIBLE to get 1TB in a compact size with an early adopters price. I can just bring a whole collection when I travel rather than spending so much time picking out files to save space or doing tons of video re-coding.
I'm guessing 9.5 mm cheaper/faster/cooler drives will be out within a year or so. I'm also guessing this will be the last of the current generation of drives. A major design change is needed to go beyond the current density. I travel a lot, so happy with the news!

They need to hurry up with dual 500GB platters for full notebook compatibility. Someone mentioned 1Tb in a notebook as overkill. With HD movies running 4-10GB when encoded in x264, it's not overkill at all.

I just installed it in my late model (2009) 15" macbook pro. Fits fine. Runs fine.
