I have 4 of these drives running on my QNAP server for a bit more than 3 years now, they were pulled from WD Elements external drives.

One of them has stopped working all of a sudden. QNAP didn't recognize the drive anymore, so I hooked it up via SATA to my computer but without any luck. The drive still spins up and you can hear the heads moving, but the drive shuts down after a few seconds, without being detected by the bios.
I tried connecting it via a usb - SATA adapter as well, but again, no luck.

I removed the PCB and measured the fuses. They seem fine. I measured the TVS diodes, and listed their values in the picture below. Based on information I found here on Tom's Hardware, these values seem correct.

I hope someone can point me in the right direction to get this drive working again.

EDIT (2024/05/29):

Upon further inspection, I found a (what to me seems like a ) fuse that seems to have an odd value to me, however I do measure continuity. It also looks like it has a burn mark.

Got it. Pitty to hear such a drive went to waste so easily. I am not bothering to recover it’s data. A backup is already restored. Thanks for the info!
