I'm about to get a new HDD for music production (mostly music making with VSTI and some recording and mixing)

What I'd like to know is how do WD GreePower series perform in music production computer. I know they are silent. The most silent of all which is a big +.

What concerns me is the performance which is about 10-15% worse that lets say regular WD500Gb Hdd.

Now, is that in practice of any importance or do they perform just ok?

As I remember for VSTI fast HDD is a must, or am I wrong?

"fast" is not a usable term. One needs to use some objective number to determine if a drive is suitable for the intended use.

If you have an older hard drive that is fast enough, then the WDs should be ok.

I was considering Samsung F1 as it should be really fast and quiet, but have been reading lots of posts about vibrating a lot.
