Hello, I don’t really post anything but I’ve been struggling to find a straight forward answer on my question from reading online. I got an i7 4790k with a GTX 1080 and I’m trying to figure out what a good upgrade would be from the processor specifically. I understand it’s a much older processor now and it’s regularly at 100% usage during most games so I’ve been trying to research what a good upgrade would be from that to get more performance out of games like Warzone and also be good enough to potentially max out settings for upcoming games such as Resident Evil 8. I’m trying to stay as budget friends as I can but I know I’ll have to get a new motherboard to support a newer chip and I plan on getting better ram as well. I know the 1080 is still a great card so I was hoping to keep that a while longer and save up to get into a 3080 or 3080 Ti at some point.

Solution
For a pure gaming setup, the 11600k is a great option, since it's nearly impossible to find a Ryzen 5 5600x, unless you live near a Microcenter.

What's your budget?
What country are you shopping in?
What's your build timeframe?

What SSD do you currently have? (Model and capacity)

I’d say a happy budget for me would be under $700 for the processor, motherboard and ram upgrade. I’m in the USA. Washington state. No super specific time frame, just whenever I figure out what I should do. Not rushing it. I have a Crucial 512GB NVME M.2 SSD installed. Thanks for the help!

Do you think I’d need to get a larger power supply by chance for the i7 10700k? I currently have 750W thermaltake toughpower 80 plus gold.
