I originally paid around $2500 EACH back in 2016. I have original receipt and box.

Someone made me offer but seems steep. Just wondering what thoughts are here bc I see prices all over the place.

There is absolutely nothing wrong and when I got my promotion that required more travel, my build after 3 months was a very expensive piece of furniture.

Is it possible for Xeon E5-2697v3 CPU originally priced at 2500 to fall much in 3 years esp when is was used about 4 months max.

Looks like the 'going' rate for them is right around ~$400 (+/-)

5 years is a long time in hardware terms, and a ~$2,500 purchase price in 2016 has very little bearing on what you could sell them for in 2019-2020.

Given you could have a modern platform with a 32 core/64 thread Threadripper + Motherboard for <$2k, people prepared to spend significant amounts of money for older hardware are few and far between.

What were you asking, out of curiosity? And what kind of offer did you get?
