My rigis a Dell Inspiron 5675
Ryzen 7 700x
GTX1060 6GB
16GB DDR4 2400
Dell motherboard x370
I play FPS games , really only BF1. Every now and then I go back to playing BF4 for a day or so but for the most part just BF1. With my set up I average 110 FPS in BF1 on ultra settings so I think I can go to a 1440p monitor ( I know I will have to turn down setting ) and still get 60+ FPS on average. Right now I am playing on a 24inch 1080p and I want something better . The 2 different monitors I am looking at are
1) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00KYCSRSG/ref=twister_B06XFJRV7Q?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

2) http://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/dell-24-gaming-monitor-s2417dg/apd/210-aizs/monitors-flat-screen-lcd-computer-displays

I like that the BenQ is 27 inch and has good reviews, seems like a good starting point for 1440p gaming. On the other hand the Dell has gsync and is only 24 inches and I kind of wantd something bigger ( or at least I think I do as I have never played on a 27 inch monitor).
Questions, does gsync make that big of a difference? Is it worth paying more and getting a smaller monitor? The price difference is not huge as I do have a $75 dell gift card so instead of $519 for the dell monitor it would only be $444. The refresh rate on the dell is 165mhz , something I know I will not be able to take advantage of until I upgrade my graphics card. Can anyone with 1440p gaming experience let me know if the bigger cheaper BenQ is the way to go of if you think the more expensive smaller Dell is the better way.
Thanks for any help and advice anyone can offer.

So for just an update I bought the Dell S2416DG. It's a 24 inch 1440p 144Hz monitor. I have to say I love it. I got it on sale and total cost was $440 CAD taxes in, to go with the 27 inch of the same monitor would have been an extra $350 so I could jot justify ( or have the budget for ) an extra $350 for 3 extra inches.
I have been using this since Nov 1st and have no problems at all with it. With my GTX 1060 6GB on ultra settings I get 75 FPS on multi player in Battlefield 1. I do get drops down to 58 FPS or so with highs in the high 80's but on average I get right around 75 FPS. Its smooth at 75 FPS with no problems at all, best part is it really seems to have made a difference in my KD ratio. I see thing quicker and everything is...
A 1440p monitor is around twice as many pixels as a 1080p. You should look at both average and minimum frame rates from your 1060 before jumping on the 1440p bandwagon. I have a 1440p, and I love it. Have you considered some of the options?
The Dell S2716DG? It is 27" 144hz and 1440p. Cost is around 535 on amazon. It is TN, not IPS so good for gaming but not as good for colors. The ViewSonic XG2703-GS is 165hz and IPS but $650. The Acer Predator XB271HU is $500 in TN and 700 in IPS. The ASUS PG278QR is 600 and IPS.

Which of the two you're talking about comes down to:
1: What pixel pitch you want? I would hate a 24" at 1440p because the pixels would be far too small for me.
2: which would bug you more. The occasional tearing when pixels drop or the smaller image?

The prices I had given were in Canadian funds as thats where I live. The monitors you suggested are all great monitors and I had looked at them but they are out of my price range. The Dell S2716DG , while its $535 on amazon.com when the difference in the dollar and shipping to Canada it now becomes around $750. As to "which would bug you more. The occasional tearing when pixels drop or the smaller image?" I have no idea, I do know right now I play on a 24 inch monitor and it seems to be an ok sizeand I am use to it. I just don't know if this is another case where bigger really is better or not.

Bigger isn't better for a 1060. The 1440p monitors have @1.7x the amount of pixels, so if you are getting a good 100fps now, on a 1440p expect @60fps. Your cpu can handle the resolution, for the most part, cpu bound settings like grass detail, viewing distance, AA etc will affect it, but mostly it's on the gpu. If you do decide to move to 1440p, I'd stick to a cheaper 1440p/60Hz monitor which will use the adaptive vsync on the gpu to temper any side affects found at higher refresh.

So a question I have is, if I go with the Dell 24 inch 165MHz can I not just set the refresh rate to 60MHz until I get a better card then turn it up to 120/144/or 165MHz? Just asking because the Dell seems like a bit better of a monitor with having the gsync feature but as I said before, im a complete idiot when it comes to this stuff.

It remains a question of taste. Me? I'd go for a 27" over a 24" @1440p because I care more about the size than the tearing. You can fix the tearing with a minor drop in some detail settings. Nothing to do to fix the overly high PPI on the 24.

Congrats. You got very sharp eyes to use 1440p on a 24. I tried 4k on a 28 and thought I'd go blind, use it a 1440p as a 2nd monitor and it is useful to me.
