Apologies for the confusing title, i wasn't really sure how to phrase it best.

Basically, I'm looking at purchasing a 4g internet package for my main broadband. It's being done by a local firm that fit an external antenna in order to boost signal.

My main question is: Will an external antenna give a much better signal than my phone currently does?

With EE I get speeds of around 20-30 Mbps download and was wondering whether I would expect to see a big improvement with a fixed antenna.

Apologies if this isn't the right place to ask! I couldn't find a more suitable category.

But what does "4G" really mean. The cell phone companies are scum trying to confuse the consumer. Att just started advertising 5g-eveloution which is not the same as what everyone else is calling 5G. Att just wants to pretend they have technology most other providers are years away from implementing.

Your best test would be to try to find the cell tower closest to your house used by your ISP and try to park very close to it. Then run a test on your phone. That is likely the absolute best you could ever expect.
