Solution
If you get a B450 now, what would be the purpose of upgrading to a B550 in the future? Unless you upgrade to a Zen3 CPU once released.

You could go with an X570 board now but is the extra $100 worth it? The X570 gets you the USB 3.2 port and the extra m.2 slot with PCI-E 4.0 support. Unless you use the fastest external USB drive on the market the 3.2 isn't a big deal. And PCI-E 4.0 m.2 SSDs are not common either. You're just going to install windows 10, some games, and have fun. You wouldn't notice the difference of a B550 or X570. I would wait till another generation or 2 of CPUs is release in 3 years then upgrade, but until then you'll have a nice machine.

the Ryzen 3300X would be better pure for gaming and doesn't cost much more
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Nv...x-38-ghz-quad-core-processor-100-100000159box

Probably not the powerfull build you wanted, well mean that gpu. Might want to take a look at the used market and see what you could get there for roughly the same money.

Some extra info, the two fans since the case comes without them. And see now that this psu is really more expensive when truly looking at Amazon. Hard to find something that is available.
Ok. What if I get around 760? Also, should I get the new R3 instead of 1600AF? It’s a really tough decision, and I would like this pc soon. I would like your take on a 760 pc

the psu is in store now.

You could take the 1600AF and maybe get the gtx 1660, but don't know if that would be the way to go.

A 1650s with a 3600? Wouldn’t I be better with a 1600af or 3300x and a 1660s?if so, 1600af or R3

The extra with the AF would help get a 1660s. But is a r5 3600 and 1650s a better buy?
Think with even the 1660s will the performance be more limited by the gpu, since new cpu come out might it well be that you could upgrade to a ryzen 3700X for a decent price in a few years.
Saw one here that was going for €240 on the used market, think he really wanted to get rid of it fast looking at the price, but still.

Found an example,
Ryzen 5 1600 AF vs Ryzen 5 3600 | Performance with the GTX 1660 Super - YouTube
from min. 3.45 are benchmarks. Hardly any difference with the gtx 1660s.

3 3600 1650s

also, waiting for b550 is a waste right?

Are you saying that the 1660s bottlenecks with the 1600af

No what i'm trying to show that with a level of gpu like that the 1600AF doesn't really bottleneck. You only really see if fal behind with CSGO which is very dependent on single core speeds. There you see that the 7NM chips do better because of that single core speed, but the AF still does fine.

Think you will be fine with the motherboard i chose. Right now nobody knows what quality and features are like with those new motherboards when they come out.
Only thing might be that a B550 motherboard could support later series of cpu's if they continue to make series of cpu's that will fit the AM4 socket. (after 4000 serie)

Think this would be a good psu right now,
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/dD...d-semi-modular-atx-power-supply-cp-9020133-na

The Phantek case only comes with one fan, would really add another one. Like,
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/68WfrH/arctic-p12-pwm-pst-563-cfm-120-mm-fan-acfan00120a
there is a (just a little) cheaper 3pin version as well.

This would bring price down a little,
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/dF448d/pny-cs900-240gb-25-solid-state-drive-ssd7cs900-240-rb
think in practical sense that you wont feel any speed difference, if there is any.
Or if you could spend a little more,

Wow thank you. I will find a psu that is similar but for around 75$. Other then that is it a good build?

Yeah not a bad build, would rather have the MSI Max board myself, but you are budget limited. If buying he motherboard at Micro Center, ask them for a small fee to update the bios to make sure it has a compatible bios for the 3600.

Think i'd rather have the case i chose as well, but cases are personal and the Phantek is a fine choice for the budget.

Will be difficult to find such a psu at $75 right now, covid19 really has messed up prices.

OK somewhere along the line someone threw in a 1650 video card. Definitely stick to the 1660 Super. No questions asked.

Why would you go with a first gen AMD Zen CPU when you can get the latest 3000 series? Doesn't make sense to me unless you have an older motherboard, get a really good deal on the used market, etc...

I put in an a Corsair CXM power supply. It's pretty much the gold standard of value power supplies on the market. It'll work and keeps you in budget. You aren't building a $2000 gaming power house so now isn't the time to be looking at $200 flower power PSUs.

One change I did do is get rid of the SATA SSD. I choose an m.2 unit which snaps into the motherboard. I also upped it to a 512GB unit. That'll give you room to install some games on the SSD to speed up loading times. I find 256GB is very limiting. Of course this requires removing the 2TB mechanical drive to keep you in budget. If you think a portable drive for transfering files or movies between devices, or bringing movies to your TV would be useful, consider an external 1TB Thunderbolt SSD in the future. I have an ADATA Thunderbolt one and I transfer files at over 500+MB/Sec. Great for transferring movies to the XBOX or Android streamer for watching movies on the TV.

Hard drives are all of course personal preference. But get what you need not what you want. I see many people put a 3TB hard drive in a computer just because it's lots of space cheap instead of a faster 512GB SSD for the same price when all they really use is about 200GB of space. If you are going to install a couple of games at a time get 512GB or 1TB SSD. Then you add storage you need for movies, music, pictures, etc... and decide if that storage should be internal or external.

The reason I don’t have the max is because in about 1 year I want to get a b550, so the extra 50 is not worth it
