I just purchased MSI RTX3060TI Gaming GPU. The connections were not that simple. I had to look at some articles on the Internet in that confused me even more.

I started out with six pins and got no picture when I launched into Windows. I plugged in six more pins and the PC is working fine. How many pins need to be plugged in? Are 16 pins needed for extreme cases when one plays games that are resource intensive?

What are some side effects if the card starts getting too taxed (hot) to where it needs more energy? Can anyone give me any feedback as to how to approach this?

Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure you meant to use all 16 pins aka 2 x 8 pin power connectors when using that GPU, as it needs it to run.

16 are necessary, they don't put optional power connectors on GPU generally.
If you don't use them all, side effects are likely monitor not getting a signal. Need all 16.
