What about 3D Gaming?

Is there such a concept as 3D gaming? There is no way to say for example play Fallout 4 in 3D if you build your build right? I think that there is no way to do this because Fallout 4 and other titles were not developed to be played in 3D and therefore even if your build is capable the content isn't built that way. If someone would happily confirm for me that this is the case I would sincerely appreciate it.

Your question is an extremely broad one so I was thinking more in terms of what you define 3D gaming as.

For 3D, I guess you're talking about a similar technology to 3D movies and 3D TVs. It existed a few years ago as a briefly but never really took off, as like the 3D TVs, the 3D capable monitors didn't sell very well, and few game developers bothered to add native support for 3D in their games. Most of the time the best you could do would be to try to force 3D through software like TriDef and the results tended not to be that great from what I understand.

Actually yes, there are mods and software that will allow you to play Non-VR games in VR, but if they games aren't designed for VR it's usually pretty bad.

I was wondering about 3D gaming myself while I was fooling around with GForce Experience and noticed it as a link in the software. I looked at the page but it seems like a waste of time and money to buy a 3D capable monitor and glasses since there's only a handful of games that support native 3D. And most of those are pretty old. I did build my system with VR in mind though even though I don't have a VR headset. I'm taking a "wait and see" approach to it and if the hardware looks more promising than it does now AND goes down in price I may check it out in a year or two.

You don't need to tell me how gimicky 3D gaming is. I had Rad Racer on my NES when I was in junior high. But yeah, even though I heard good things about Arkham Asylum in 3D back in the day it's one of those things I can't see anyone going out of their way to do. If you had a 3D tv already because you're an early adopter who's also optimistic then I say go for it. But if you're building a new setup for 3D gaming I say you're wasting your time. VR on the other hand seems a lot more promising but I haven't really paid much attention to it this year.
