What about my machine is "lacking"?

I hope I can word this properly, so here goes

AMD FX6300 CPU
Asus M5A97 Motherboard
8GB 1333Hhz DDR3 RAM
EVGA GTX960 SSC GPU
Corsair 600W PLUS Bronze PSU
256GB SSD + 1TB HDD

Is there anything about my computer that is particularly weaker than the rest, that I should focus on replacing or upgrading, that may hold it back?

The cpu is old and weaker than an i3
That psu uses low quality componenets and is not very reliable

If the game is particularly cpu intensive, the cpu may hold it back some. Other than that it looks to be fairly well balanced for the majority of games. If you have an aftermarket cpu cooler you may try giving the cpu a slight overclock. It would really depend on the particular games you're playing, others are more gpu intensive where upgrading the cpu wouldn't add a whole lot of performance. If you use a program similar to hwinfo64 you should be able to monitor your cpu and gpu usage in %. If the gpu isn't fully utilized (say 70-80%) and the cpu is at 100% on one or two cores, then your cpu would be the greater bottleneck. If the gpu is at 100% and none of your cpu cores are reaching 100% then it's the gpu holding things back. There will always be a slight bottleneck one way or the other, it's unavoidable. If both are near 90-100% it would indicate pretty good balance which is what I'd suspect.
