I overclocked my i7 7700k to 4.8 ghz with a cryorig h7 universal as a cooler. The max temps i saw were around 83c on one core and 82c and 81c on the other 3 cores. Is this safe temps?
Temps are warm, but those temps are safe. Though I'm not sure how you achieved those temps with the H7 if that's during stress test. What type of program are you using when you get those temps?

i used the one on cpu-z. I dont know if its the most reliable program to get temps tho
Hmmm I've played with it before but I dont' remember what temps it gave me. I know I had H7 with my 7700K and at 4.5GHz I would run Prime95 v26.6 Small FFT's and get 81-86C depending on how long I let it run.
If you get consistent temps over 80C in regular use I would down clock a bit.

The main thing is, in regular use, the cpu will stay around low to mid 70's. When i used the prime95 small fft's test, the default test used 8 torture tests and that spiked my cpu up to mid 90's to 100
Yeah see that's too hot. Not that you'd be running Prime95 all the time or anything. But you never know what you might be doing. You don't want your CPU running up to 100C.

from what i've seen though, the most it'll do is spike up to 85-90C for a split second every once in a while. Doesnt seem like too big of a deal.
