What are good temps for AMD Athlon XP 2200+?

Hey. I'm using the Athlon XP 2200+ Thoroughbred with the retail stock heatsink/fan. I get about 44°C at normal, and about 50°C at full load. I usually get the "burning" smell from my case, but I'm thinking its because of my lack of fans for the case, only one on the side and 2 on the power supply. My mobo(Asus A7N8X DX) temp is usually about 4-5° cooler than the CPU. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like you need to add some case fans.

your mobo temp SHOULDN'T be too much greater than the ambient air temp... if its hot, and the inside of the case is hot, install some more fans!
