What are Laptop GPU thermal pads?

Solution
Thermal pad
+ Easier to apply
- Less heat transfer
- Harder to remove

Thermal paste
+ Better heat transfer
+ Easier to remove (remove the old thermal paste by using alcohol)
- Harder to apply

All in all, non-conductive thermal paste is better.
Here i suggest Arctic Cooling. For thermal paste, MX-4 offers better performance than MX-2,

Change of thermal paste is not needed unless you remove the heatsink. Then you have to re-apply the thermal paste.
Same goes for thermal pads. Though, some thermal pads may lose their heat conductivity over the years.
Also, monitor your temperatures. I use the small handy program called Speccy,

Hello, are those pads any better than applying thermal paste? How frequently should one change these pads?
