What are my best options for a tv or monitor for the switch? What screen size would be appropriate?

I'm the proud new owner of a nintendo switch. I don't know what to get for a display. Monitors sound cheaper. Should I buy one from best buy or order one online? I don't have a lot of money. 2-300 cad is all I want to spend.
Does teh nintendo switch look good on big screens? Whats the difference between a monitor and a tv for consoles in 900p.
If you're not using it for reading is it just better to go bigger. I know 24 inches is about it for 1080p if its not a tv but i don't know why that is. is it the distance you're watching from?
The monitor i'm using now is 24 inchs but has no hdmi input. so the tv or monitor i'm getting has to be hdmi and have a cable jack so I can watch tv on it. itll be my second screen. So tv or monitor which do I go?

I have a 24 " gaming monitor and a 55" UHD 4K TV. The 144 Hz gaming monitor is connected with DisplayPort and the TV is connected with HDMI.

I use both. i especially like the UHD 4K TV for computer use when I'm in the recliner.

My point is that you can use either.
personally i'd say TV. just for function of use other than playing the console.

I have a friend who has a 42in tv they play switch on and it looks amazing.

when you go larger than 24in on 1080p stuff starts getting "pixelated" as those pixels have to be larger to fit the screen size. (iirc)

consoles upscale/downscale to fit the tv's size (again iirc)
