What are parallel tasks?

So, when I look at the testing done on CPUs there is always the category, "parallel tasks." What does this mean? Is surfing the web and downloading a file a parallel task.... or watching a movie and reading an article online a parallel task.

Yes! You got it right! Performing tasks simultaneously is sometimes referred to as 'parallel' tasks.

(Concurrent engineering would also be an example).
