What are reasons to consider gtx 1080 founders edition?

So far we do not have enough information but if it is only the reference cooler on it and nothing else(as it is likely) then it is not worth the extra $100.

NVIDIA might be doing this to get a head start on selling them who really want the 1080 faster than anyone else but so they dont compete with other vendors of GPUS they set the price extra +100.

nvidia said that the founders edition will have premium/upgraded parts, but besides that it's just a glorified reference card so far.

From what I heard, it will be no different than the reference card, other than the fact it will be sold by
nvidia for the life of the 1080(as opposed to disappearing when aftermarket cards grab the market). So when the card is released, be sure to go with the reference card. Only go with the founder's edition when the reference cards are no longer available.
